
Francoise Lane

Francoise Lane, a Torres Strait Islander woman of Meriam and Kaurareg decent, and of Filipino and Irish heritage. She is Co-Director of Indij Design, an award-winning Indigenous-owned architectural practice based in Gubuda (Gordonvale, Tropical Queensland) since 2011. She is a qualified Interior Architect working at the intersection of design, community and the arts. With professional experience spanning housing, commercial, and health projects, working with local and state governments and community-controlled Aboriginal organisations since 1995.
Francoise brings more than a decade of cross-cultural engagement experience in the built environment, contributing to complex community, arts, and architectural projects. More recently she was the Artistic Director of Cairns Indigenous Art Fair from 2022 – 2024, Queensland’s premier First Nations arts and cultural event. She has served as a First Nations Panellist on the NSW Government Architect’s State Design Review Panel and remains deeply committed to Indigenous arts, culture, and community outcomes.
