Lisa Sampson

Chief Executive Officer

ACHIA NSW

In September 2020, Lisa worked with the Board to formally establish Aboriginal Community Housing Industry Association (ACHIA), the peak industry body for Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) in NSW. Using an Incubator-Accelerator business model, ACHIA rolled out The Coolamon Project. Engaging deeply and widely across the sector, ACHIA has become the widely trusted voice of its Members.

Lisa commenced her career as a public servant in 1994, steering the quality improvement of community, disability and mental health services to meet unfolding legislative expectations. Whilst working fulltime, she completed a BA in Sociology (Macquarie University). She went on to spearhead the closure of private-for-profit boarding houses, and then, state and not for profit Large Residential Centres for people with disability in NSW. What she values most about her time working in government: that vulnerable people who had been systemically excluded, societally disadvantaged and discriminated against, finally got to live a good life.

Since entering the profit for purpose and social enterprise sector in 2003, Lisa has conceived and delivered complex, creative greenfield projects with a range of non profit organisations, universities and companies. Lisa's approach has been successful because she lives by the principles of co-creation, as well as the enduring belief that all successful ventures forge their own idiosyncratic path to success. Businesses, enterprises and programs have been built with the brilliant teams she's been proud to coach, sponsor and mentor. Lisa could not be prouder than to serve the ACHIA Board and work with our deadly staff team.

Additionally since 2003, Lisa has forged an artistic practice around her first and enduring passion: writing. Her multi-media, multi-platform musical theatre, photography, stage, magic and film projects tell heartfelt stories of people from different cultural backgrounds that ventilate key issues surrounding Australian identity, social transformation and decolonisation.
